Serratus anterior plane block has been used effectively to provide analgesia for various indications recently but has been mainly used for analgesic effect such as peri-operative analgesia. Here, we report a 71-year old female patient who had medically uncontrolled anterolateral thoracic pain after thoracic spine surgery in degenerative lumbar kyphosis. We performed serratus anterior plane block bilaterally and after the intervention, pain was significantly reduced and has been resolved for over a month. We propose that serratus anterior plane block is a novel approach for managing uncontrolled anterolateral thoracic pain after thoracic surgery in elderly patient.
